Venus will be at its nearest point to the sun at 7.56pm in Doha tomorrow, noted astronomer Dr Beshir Marzouk said yesterday.
Qatar residents will not require telescopes to observe Venus over the western horizon after sunset on this day, as it will be visible to the naked eye.
The sunset time, according to Dr Marzouk, will be 5.31pm in Doha and Venus will be located above the western horizon by 37 degrees, and will be seen until 8.20pm.
Venus is one of just two planets that rotate from east to west around their axis, the other being Uranus, while others in the solar system rotate from west to east.
Venus reaches its Perihelion point (the nearest point to the sun) in its orbit every 225 days. July 10, 2016, was the last time it reached the point. The next one will be on October 3, 2017.
