The Court of Appeal has upheld the ruling of the Criminal Court to sentence a woman to two years in jail for exploiting her husband’s old age and sickness to transfer his property and bank credit into her name and the names of her relatives.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported that the woman, in her 40s, was convicted of taking the signature of her husband on the sale contract and a proxy to sell and transfer on his behalf, while he was not aware of his actions on account of his age and frail health.
The issue was discovered when the victim’s son from another wife blamed his father for selling property and withdrawing money from the bank.
However, the father denied any knowledge about this and so the son decided to file a case against the defendant.
