Residents of Al Sadd and its immediate neighbourhood have called for better direct public transport access to and from different parts of Doha.

Speaking to Gulf Times, a number of 'single' workers living in and around Al Sadd said there is a pressing need for more direct bus services as there are a large number of people in the area who depend on this mode of transport to move around.
What is available at present is inadequate, they point out. The residents said they would like to have direct bus connectivity with key destinations such as City Center Doha (CCD) in West Bay and Matar Qadeem, among others.
Some of them said though a couple of Doha Bus Station (DBS)-Industrial Area buses are operated through Al Sadd, there is a huge demand for services covering other parts of the city as well.
As in most other places in Doha, those living in Al Sadd and surrounding areas need to first take a bus to DBS before boarding an onward bus to CCD.
"This is time-consuming as buses from Al Sadd take a long time to reach the bus station area," said a resident, who suggested the introduction of shuttle services at 20-minute intervals during the day between CCD and Al Sadd without passing through congested areas such as Al Ghanim, where DBS is located.
Another resident, who uses buses occasionally, said a couple of circular services (301 and 302) pass through Al Sadd, but they are "of limited use due to their winding routes".
"No one seems to have any idea about their routes," he said, adding that buses on these routes are generally seen with only a handful of passengers.
Some Al Sadd residents also highlighted the need for setting up dedicated taxi stands in the area in order to further improve their availability.
