A team from College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) has paid a field visit to Kyrgyzstan as part of the ‘Competitors’ Programme, sponsored by Qatar Charity (QC) in collaboration with Al Quran Al Kareem Radio.

The visit was aimed at conducting a field study of the humanitarian situation in Kyrgyzstan in order to determine humanitarian projects that would meet the needs of the Kyrgyz people to be implemented and widely promoted, QC said in a press statement.
The competing team chose a project that involves the construction of a three-storey furnished and adequately equipped health centre. The health centre will provide medical consultation and services in dentistry, gynaecology and obstetrics, internal medicine, the kidneys and urinary tract, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), paediatrics, ophthalmology, cardiology, chest diseases, dermatology, venereal diseases and orthopaedics.
The centre, according to the QC statement, will offer medical services to more than 5,000 patients annually in Bishkek city. Inhabitants of the area face a shortage of health services, resulting in high mortality rate among the most vulnerable groups, including children, pregnant women and the elderly, who have to walk long distances to reach a health centre.
The ‘Competitors’ team will talk in details about their visit to Kyrgyzstan and the humanitarian project that will be implemented on a programme will be broadcast on Al Quran Al Kareem Radio at 8pm on Tuesday. In this regard, QC has asked Qatari philanthropists to listen to the programme to get acquainted with the humanitarian situation in Kyrgyzstan and contribute to building the integrated health centre.
The participating team included Abdullah al-Hammadi, Hassan Mohamed Hassan, Abdulaziz Riachy and Abdul Rahman al-Ashqar, as well as the director of QC’s Information Department Ahmed al-Ali, members of Al Quran Al Kareem Radio and others.
Upon its arrival in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, the delegation visited Qatar’s embassy in the city and was welcomed by ambassador Mohamed Arar al-Nuaimi, highlighting the importance of humanitarian work in addition to co-operation to facilitate the task of the visiting team.
The delegation met Kyrgyzstan’s minister of health to learn about the health and humanitarian services, and the possibilities of helping the Kyrgyz people by establishing health centres that meet their medical needs.
The delegation also met the republic's General Mufti, the president of religious affairs and his deputy to discuss the conditions of Muslims in Kyrgyzstan.
Further, the team inspected a number of Qatari projects that were implemented by Qatar Charity through the donation of philanthropists in Qatar.
Al-Ali thanked Al Quran Al Kareem Radio, the team from CNA-Q and media personalities, appreciating the role played by the official authorities of Kyrgyzstan for the facilities provided during the delegation's visit. He also praised the role of the Qatari embassy in Kyrgyzstan, represented by al-Nuaimi, who made the delegation familiar with Qatar's efforts in Kyrgyzstan.
