CMC proposes beach allocation
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) should allocate some of the beaches it will develop in future for women and children only, the Central Municipal Council (CMC) has recommended.
This will allow such individuals to enjoy the country’s beaches in a convenient manner, ensuring adequate privacy for them, the council has stressed. At its regular session yesterday, the CMC also suggested that the MME study the possibility of allocating a day in the week for women and children only at existing public beaches. This day should vary at different beaches in order to give women and children more options for outdoor recreation.
Meanwhile, the council reviewed the response of HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment regarding its previous recommendations on installing decorative covers around garbage containers at commercial complexes around the country.
Another reply pertained to a suggestion to introduce more basic services for workers at construction sites. After going through both responses, the CMC observed that its department concerned would follow on related updates. The council also discussed the issue of regulations for private fuel stations and the relevant organisational process. The matter was referred to the CMC’s Service and Utilities Committee for further study and to issue necessary recommendations.
The CMC eventually thanked HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for receiving and meeting its members. The council affirmed that the meeting stressed HH the Emir’s keenness regarding the progress of municipal work in the country.
