Mountaser Laffan and Deema Al Nasser were adjudged as Gold Champions in Senior Stallions and Senior Mares category respectively on the second and final day of the 2nd Qatar National Peninsula Arabian Horse Show for Individual Owners 2017 at Qatar Foundation on Saturday.
Both the horses had made it to the Championship round after topping their respective categories.
Jassim Kayed al-Muhannadi-owned Mountaser Laffan had won Class 10 for 4-6-year-old Stallions earlier on the second day of the event, while Mesfer Mohamed al-Hajri’s Deema Al Nasser had topped the Class 7A for 4-6-year-old Mares, to secure their spots in the championship round.
Bashir Al Rayyan, whose one-point loss in Moves pushed him to third in the Class 10 qualifying round after a tie at 90.6 points with Shaklan Bu Thaila, was the Silver Champion among Senior Stallions.
While Daghsh Al Shaqab, owned by Abdul Aziz Mubarak Ibrahim al-Moadadi, won the merged Class 11-12 for 7-10-year-old and 11-year-old and over Stallions, it was second-placed Medan Elalya, owned by Mohamed Ali al-Kuwari, who notched the bronze in the Championship round in the evening.
Al Marroona Stud’s Dwa Shaihin was third in Class 11-12 for Stallions.
The top two mares in Class 8-9 for 7-10-year-old and 11-year-old and over (merged) — Dahma Al Nasser, owned by Majed Saad Ibrahim al-Mohannadi, and Df Yasirah, owned by Hamad Mohamed Fadgham Amer al-Hajri — took the silver and bronze medals respectively behind Deema Al Nasser.
In the qualifying rounds, Rb Ghaliah, owned by Mohamed Ali al-Kuwari, and Jassim
Kayed al-Muhannadi-owned Monsoura Laffan completed the top three in Class 7A behind Mares champion Deema Al Nasser.
Class 7B for 4-6-year-old Mares was topped by Wardat Elkhaleej, owned by Ghanim bin Ali al-Mohannadi, having amassed 91.4 points, while Ghyd Bu Thaila (90.8) and Al Jameelah Bj (90.5) completed the top three in the category.
Asayel Juhayna Stud’s Badahit Al Naif was third in Class 8-9 for Mares.
Saef Mohamed Salem Mohamed al-Hajri’s Fareeda Elalya and Al Marroona Stud’s Nebras Al Waab won gold in the Championship round for Junior Fillies and Colts respectively.
Fareeda Elalya had topped Class 2B for 2-year-old Fillies on the first day on Friday.
Majeda Al Rowdha, who finished second in Class 3 for 3-year-old Fillies on Friday, beat the category winner Rb Ghazalah for the second spot in the Championship round.
Among the colts too, Nebras Al Waab, who had finished runner-up in Class 6 for 3-year-old Colts on opening day, beat category winner Safir Umm Aludham for gold.
Runner up in Class 5 for 2-year-old Colts, Waset Al Shaqab, picked up bronze among the colts.
