Pakistan International School Qatar recently organised a trip for its students to the Mahaseel Festival in Katara.
About 150 Class XI and Class XII students from the Girls’ Wing were taken to the first edition of the Mahaseel Festival. The aim of the visit was to allow the students to explore organic farming, i.e. to produce quality food without the use of chemical pesticides or artificial fertilisers.
By learning about how a farm works, children experience the world in a new way and make a vital connection between the social, ecological, and economic importance of agriculture in their lives, according to the school.
The students took a keen interest in all the stalls, offering Qatari agricultural, dairy and meat products including vegetables, fresh fruits, honey, poultry, milk, fresh juices and flowers. The festival also featured several events and student-based activities, such as basket decoration and cart decoration competitions.
Students also toured the zone for local popular foods under the supervision of Qatari women and housewives who were sharing their expertise with visitors on how to make delicious local dishes using chicken, poultry, and milk products available at the festival.
