Chaliyar Doha’s environmental seminar, part of the activities arranged to mark the organisation’s third anniversary, attracted a full house recently.
Indian environmentalist Haamidali Vazhakkad, the chief guest, did not hide his surprise of seeing the house full of audience members for an event related to environment and its protection – something that is very rare even in India. He said, “In an era where people are losing interest in environment and its protection, it’s amazing to see action and initiatives from an expatriate organisation like Chaliyar Doha to preserve and protect mother nature.”
Vazhakkad was the co-ordinator for Chaliyar Doha’s prestigious project “Planting 10000 Trees” across the banks of Chaliyar River in Kerala, India.
The seminar was inaugurated by ICC President Milan Arun, who congratulated Chaliyar Doha and Vazhakkad for following and executing activities designed to help protect the nature.
The seminar also had a session in remembrance of Chaliyar agitation leader, the late KA Rahman. Prominent personalities from Qatar, including Shaukath Ali Taj, Amanullah Vadakkangara, Adv. Jafar Khan, Mujeeb, Hyder Chungathara, Keshava Das and Naufal delivered speeches.
Mashood Thiruthiyad, president of Chaliyar Doha, chaired the programme. Milan Arun also honoured Haamidali Vazhakkad for his “excellent contributions to the society and environment”.
Chaliyar Doha officials Basheer Kuniyil, Manaf Edavanna, Naushad PPC, Haseeb Akod, Zameel Chaliyam and Shanavas CP co-ordinated the programme.
