A diverse range of regional and international music acts are set to headline the 20th edition of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, with a nostalgic nod to the past two decades, it was announced yesterday.
World renowned music artists will take to the tournament’s Public Village from 5pm – 8pm on January 26, 27 and 28. The international line-up will feature one of the UK’s top soul bands, Atlantic Soul Orchestra, popular Kuwaiti band Miami Band, and one of Kuwait’s favourite ‘Arabs Got Talent’ bands, Sheyaab.
The Atlantic Soul Orchestra have made their name as the UK’s most authentic soul band, playing ‘the very best of Stax and Atlantic soul music’ from soul music’s golden period, the 1960’s. Led by Lloyd Wade (who made his name singing with a range of artistes from Take That to Eliza Doolittle), the British band are comprised of London’s session elite, having toured with or recorded with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Sir Elton John,  Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, Beverly Knight, Basement Jaxx, Lily Allen, Take That, Ed Sheeran and Girls Aloud.
Miami Band is a four-member Kuwaiti group founded in 1991, with number one hits and albums to their name. Their music is a fusion of revived traditional Kuwaiti songs and their very own modern songs, appealing to a wide range of
audiences.
Also hailing from Kuwait, Sheyaab is a touring comedy troupe that won over the hearts of judges and fans on the reality show Arab’s Got Talent. With the help of makeup and their home-grown talent, the musically-inclined trio appear elderly during their performances, playing various musical instruments while singing and dancing. The three young students continue to conceal their real identities and go by their alter ego names Romeo, Mirshiego and Alijandro.
“Our entertainment line-up for this milestone year is a diverse set of musical acts to reflect the equally diverse nature of our guests and spectators at the tournament.” said Joseph Abraham, CEO of Commercial Bank.
