During the championship match between the top two players in men’s tennis, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha on Saturday, the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation and its programme, Educate A Child (EAC), were recognised for their global impact on access to education.
At the awards ceremony following the match, five primary school aged children wearing EAC T-shirts were pictured with the finalists. The children held a #KeepThePromise sign in support of EAC’s ambitious commitment to provide access to quality education for 10mn out-of-school children around the world.
Over the course of the tournament, awareness of the foundation’s work was raised through an EAA booth in the tennis stadium, which featured a map showing the progress of EAC projects since 2012, while EAC memorabilia, such as brochures, leaflets and children’s T-shirts were distributed to visitors, and donations were collected.
“Huge progress has been made towards meeting this aim of providing quality education, but there is still more to be done. EAA continues to call for global support for its effort to transform the lives of young people around the world through education,” EAA added in a statement yesterday.
