Qatar Airways (QA), Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and Ezdan Hotel will be the sponsors of the 2017 Ooredoo Marathon.
In a statement, Ooredoo said preparations are underway for the January 13 event, which will host an estimated 1,500 people.
“Thanks to the support of QA, QOC and Ezdan Hotel, this year is set to be our best marathon yet,” said Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of community and public relations, Ooredoo Qatar.
QA’s marketing and corporate communications senior vice president Salam al-Shawa said they are proud to support the marathon, an event that allows people of all ages and abilities to challenge themselves and feel the reward of training and dedication.
QOC secretary general Dr Thani Abdulrahman al-Kuwari stressed that events like the Ooredoo Marathon help to inspire and empower the community to lead healthy and active lifestyles regardless of age and ability.
For the second year in row, Ezdan Hotel management will extend its support to the marathon, according to Hasib Kayali, group hotels general manager, Ezdan Hotels.
Ooredoo has encouraged competitors to visit Marathon.ooredoo.qa before the big day, to help make sure participants are prepared for the event, either with training or pre-race tips.
This year, the marathon will feature a 10km, half-marathon, full marathon and special children’s 3km and 1km fun run.
The route, which will start at the Museum of Islamic Art Park, will follow the Doha Corniche. To ensure the safety of all runners and spectators, the Corniche road will be closed from 6.30am to 11.30am on Friday.
