More than 400 brands representing over 50 exhibitors will showcase their luxury and premium goods and accessories at the 14th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) to be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) from February 20 to 25.

"A number of widely acclaimed international brands will have their presence at the 6-day exhibition, as in the previous expo," said Ahmed al-Obaidly, director of Exhibitions at the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).

Exuding confidence about a good response to the expo, the official explained that the organisers have marketed the event well in the last two months and there is a growing awareness about the Doha exhibition among the region's clientele.

The DJWE is the first in the annual global calendar of such events. The QTA official said the expo will have several hundreds of top notch customers from within the Gulf region and outside. He said more than 60% of the visitors to the exhibition are from the Gulf states.

Recalling that the DJWE is the longest running and most anticipated expo in Qatar's annual calendar of events, al-Obaidly said the exhibition continues to reinforce the country's position as a premium venue for high profile business events.

The QTA official said the business events would play a major role in attracting no less than seven million annual visitors in Qatar by the turn of 2030.

Speaking later, QNB assistant general manager (corporate relations) Salem al-Naemi and Qatar Airways vice president Ehaab Abdelatif Amin also expressed hope that the DJWE would draw a large number of visitors to the country during the event, both as exhibitors and customers.

Amin said Qatar Airways, which is the official airline sponsor of the DJWE, is launching a series of offers for the visitors from the Gulf region. Besides attractive fares, the airline would support the visitors through remarkably good hospitality and logistics support, he added.

Mazen Abd Rabbo, managing director of Auditoire, which will deliver the DJWE, and Fouad Tayoun, head of watches and jewellery at Fifty One East, which supports emerging Qatari designers at the event, were also present at the press conference.
