Google CEO Sundar Pichai yesterday said his organisation was s “betting big” on advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in the coming years.
Asked about the next big thing at Google, Pichai said: “I can’t quite tell exactly but advances in AI and machine learning, we are making a big bet on that. Advances in machine learning will bring a difference in many, many fields.”
Pichai was interacting with students at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur from where he earned his degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
Pichai was back on the campus after 23 years and spoke about his life at the IIT and how his experience has been over the years.
The event saw over 3,000 attendees including students, who got an insight and background of Google’s CEO.
Pichai started off by talking about his days on the campus. He admitted he bunked a few classes while he was doing his B Tech course, calling it a ‘rite of passage’.
He also mentioned about his wife Anjali, who he met at IIT itself, and how he had to visit the girls’ hostel to see her.
Apart from his college life, the CEO was asked some questions by students around his professional life.
