Hamad International Training Center (HITC) recently held its 12th Child Passenger Safety (CPS) technician training course in collaboration with Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Company.
Over a dozen people took part in the training course, held at Nissan’s main showroom in Doha. The HITC CPS technicians also provided specialised training to Nissan staff on child passenger safety so that they can give informed advice to customers and families visiting the showrooms. So far, nearly 130 people have taken part in HITC’s unique CPS courses.
“The course included teaching participants how to select the right car seat for a child based on age, weight and height, and aims to educate participants about helping parents and caregivers keep their children safe in motor vehicles, using appropriate car seats and restraints,” said Dr Khalid Abdulnoor Saifeldeen, director of HITC.
“This is the second time we have worked with Nissan Qatar on this programme, and we are pleased that car dealerships are taking the initiative when it comes to child passenger safety,” he explained.
“It is important to understand that most times, child injuries from car-related accidents are preventable,” Dr Saifeldeen said adding: “Car seats for children are available until the child reaches the weight and height where they are able to safely use the car seat belt system designed for adults. It is essential to select the appropriate seat for every child depending on his or her age, their height, weight and stage of development.”
Hisham Saleh al-Mana, chairman and managing director of the Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Company said: “We are always keen to take part in great initiatives that will lead to the safety and well-being of our most beloved ones. The programme with HMC is a quest to keep children safe when they are present in vehicles. There is a long way to go in raising awareness in our community about the importance of child safety and this course is just the tip of the iceberg in what we will be doing with HMC.”
