Windy and dusty conditions, along with below-average temperatures, are expected in the country from tomorrow until Monday, the Qatar Met department has said.
Today, cloudy conditions are expected until the evening and there is a chance of isolated light rain in some areas, the weather office informed in a tweet.
In a report yesterday, the Met department said “an extension of a high-pressure system” is expected to affect the country in the coming days, accompanied by fresh to strong northwesterly winds ranging between 12 and 22 knots inshore, reaching 25 knots at times in northern areas. There is a chance of blowing dust during the day and low visibility in open areas.
In general, the weather will be mild at daytime with some clouds, with the conditions becoming cold at night and the temperature dropping slightly below average levels. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 20C and 23C in Doha and the minimum between 14C and 17C, while it be colder in external areas. The prevalence of fresh winds will make it feel cooler, the Met department has said.
Also, high waves are likely in offshore areas in the above-mentioned period, ranging from 8-10ft, going up to 13ft, along with strong winds that may reach a high of 35 knots.
Meanwhile, today’s forecast states that strong winds are expected in parts of the country by the night. Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds and high seas towards the north at night.
The wind speed may go up to 22 knots in both inshore and offshore areas by tonight, with the sea level rising to 7ft.
The detailed report for inshore areas also says hazy to misty conditions are expected in some places in the early hours of the day. This is to be followed by cloudy conditions and there is a weak chance of rain in some areas. Also, it will be relatively cold by night.
Hazy and partly cloudy conditions are also expected in offshore areas, and there is a chance of light rain towards the north.
Northerly winds and sea warnings will resume by tonight, the Met department tweeted yesterday.
Today, a minimum temperature of 14C is expected in Mesaieed, Wakrah and Abu Samra, followed by 15C in Dukhan and 17C in Doha, Al Khor and Ruwais.
