Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte arrived in Cambodia yesterday evening for a two-day visit at the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.
After an audience with the king, Duterte will meet Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen today afternoon at Phnom Penh’s Peace Palace, where they will sign memoranda of understanding on transnational crime and sporting co-operation.
Duterte was accompanied by champion boxer and Philippine Senator Manny Pacquiao at the request of Hun Sen, who is a fan of Pacquiao.
Hun Sen allegedly bet $5,000 on Pacquiao in his much-anticipated 2015 match against American boxer Floyd Mayweather, but refused to pay up when Pacquiao lost.
Sen also later claimed the initial bet had in fact been
5,000 Cambodian riel ($1.25).
