Al-Futtaim’s Doha Marketing Services Company (Domasco), the distributor for Volvo cars in Qatar, has announced that the Volvo S90 premium sedan is now available in Qatar.
The S90 marks a giant step forward for Volvo Cars, Domasco has stressed in a statement. While the Swedish car maker is better known for its SUVs, the launch of the S90 shows that it’s “clearly intent on shaking up the premium sedan segment with its distinctive executive class
sedan”.
Equipped with a host of new technologies, ranging from “cutting-edge safety to cloud-based apps and services, the S90 is further proof of the Swedish brand’s continuing transformation”. The S90 has taken a “big stride forward in terms of driving dynamics, performance and ride and the Volvo driving experience has been completely redesigned from the ground up to deliver a sense of precision, engaging control and comfort”, the statement notes.
Commenting on the launch of Volvo’s premium four-door, five-seat flagship sedan, Domasco managing director Faisal Sharif said: “The S90 brings something entirely new to this rather conservative premium sedan segment and delivers a visual expression that exudes leadership and confidence.
“We are delighted to offer this innovative new model to our customers here in Qatar.”
The S90 carries the “proud and confident face of Volvo’s new design language, along with classic Volvo styling cues”. Key features include the iconic ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlight design, the new grille and the expressive use of the Volvo word mark on the rear. In the cabin, Volvo has taken cues from the success of its XC90 model and raised the bar with new details on the dashboard and instrument panel.
“The S90 provides luxurious comfort and confidence-inspiring handling and braking performance, while also offering class-leading drivability and safety performance,” said Andrew Parrott, head of sales and marketing for Volvo at Domasco.
The functionality of Volvo’s City Safety Technology, standard on all Volvo models, is further extended in the S90 with Large Animal Detection, designed to help avoid or mitigate collisions with large animals. An auto-steer functionality called Run Off Road Mitigation has also been added.
The new Volvo S90 comes equipped with an advanced semi-autonomous drive feature, Pilot Assist. The system gives gentle steering inputs to keep the car properly aligned within lane markings.
The S90 comes with a T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain, delivering up to 410hp of power. It has also benefited from Volvo Cars’ recent investment in an advanced
chassis simulator.
