The second batch of tickets for the Qatar Airways ‘Match of Champions’ between Barcelona and Al Ahli Saudi were sold out in a few hours.
The tickets went on sale yesterday morning on the Qatar Football Association (QFA) website, and were sold out in just four hours, raising the number of tickets sold so far to 3300.
This follows record demand for the first batch of tickets for the match, which is to be held in Doha on December 13 at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium (Al Gharafa Stadium) 7pm onwards. The initial batch of tickets was sold out in just six hours.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the match said it was delighted with the demand for tickets, showcasing the rising excitement ahead of the match between the Spanish and Saudi Arabian champions in Qatar.
“We are delighted with the amount of interest shown by fans buying tickets in the first and second batches released to the public, which showcases the great excitement building up in Qatar and across the region for this match,” the LOC said in a statement.
“The first two batches of tickets were sold in record timing – six hours for the first batch and four hours for the second. We’ve had fans not only from Qatar and the Middle East, but even from China and Europe securing their tickets online. We look forward to welcoming all of these fans to Doha for a spectacular match.”
The LOC, which comprises representatives of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the QFA, and the Qatar Stars League (QSL), has revealed that tickets will go sale in shopping malls across Qatar starting first week of December. Each individual can buy up to five tickets for either category 1 tickets (QR200) or category 2 tickets (QR100), in addition to VIP tickets (according to availability). More details are available on www.qfa.qa and on the federation’s social media outlets.
Through Qatar Airways Holidays (www.qatarairways.com/cup) or accredited travel agents in the Arabian Gulf, fans of the two teams can get special offers and promotions, including flight tickets, hotel accommodation, and match tickets.
Both clubs had highly successful campaigns last season, winning the domestic double, and the match in Qatar gives fans from the region and beyond the opportunity to see the players in action in the host nation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
