Ukraine sees Qatar as a potential supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the country’s ambassador Yevhen Mykytenko has said.
“In Ukraine, Qatar is considered a truly important commercial and investment partner and a potential supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to our country. We are also proud that the Ukrainian company Interpipe presents its products in the Qatari market with dignity,” Mykytenko said during the high-level reception the Ukrainian Embassy in Doha hosted for key private and public sector officials from Qatari ministries and state agencies.
He spoke about the “political, commercial, economic, cultural, and humanitarian collaborations” between the two countries and emphasised the dynamics of their development and growth.
Mykytenko said, “With every passing year, we intensify the political dialogue between our countries and strengthen our economic relations.”
Over the first 10 months of 2016, the bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded $35mn, he said.
Metal industry products are among the top Ukrainian export goods to Qatar. On average, they represent 30-35% of the overall annual value of Ukrainian exports to Qatar.
Andrey Burtsev, Interpipe CCO for Middle East, Africa, and Asia markets said, “Interpipe has been successfully working in the Gulf for nearly 20 years now. Our products are implemented in the largest construction projects in Qatar. For instance, we have supplied steel pipes for the Hamad International Airport, Lusail Multipurpose Hall, and Qatar Rail Red Line Metro.
“We have been in long-term collaboration with the Ukrainian delegation in Qatar, and are truly grateful for their support and promotion of Ukrainian manufacturers. We are also very happy and proud that this grand reception has been arranged with the support of our company.”
Among the key guests were, HE the Minister of Transport and Communications, Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi, a senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Hossein Adeli, secretary-general, Gas Exporting Countries Forum and key business representatives from both the countries. Interpipe was a key partner of the event.
