Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a co-operation agreement with Safari Group.
The agreement will involve the marketing of QC’s Elkher Cards project at the group’s outlets, allowing shoppers to donate to Qatar Charity projects, the organisation said in a press statement.
Ali Atiq al-Abdullah, QC’s executive director of local development, said: “Qatar Charity is seeking to open up prospects for co-operation with various public and private institutions, helping us achieve our mission and serve a larger number of beneficiaries around the world.”
“The retail sector is particularly important, especially commercial complexes, which can ensure the largest number of donors,” he added, thanking all those who contributed to the signing of the agreement.
“Qatar Charity is a leading organisation within the State and has a strong reputation within the community, with activities stretching across the world, while Safari always strives to provide a helping hand to the needy,” said Hamad Zafer Abdel-Hadi al-Sofan al-Ahbabi, chairman of Safari Group.
“Thanks to God, many have benefited from our partnerships and we look forward to offering more such help.”
Speaking about the ‘Darahim project’, al-Ahbabi said: “Donations to the ‘Darahim project’ involved very small amounts of money, but when combined, these could have a dramatic effect on the lives of those in need. We strive for closer co-operation with Qatar Charity for the benefit of needy groups.”
Hamid Said Aladdin, QC’s community partnership director, explained that the project allows shoppers carrying out their weekly purchases to donate funds directly to QC, which will spend it on projects for the benefit of the needy.
He added: “The Qatar Charity ‘Elkher’ shop application allows you to choose the exact area where you wish to donate, with participating malls allowing you to present a barcode on your mobile phone to the cashier and add your donation amount to your shopping.”
