Doha Bank has become the first bank in Qatar to achieve accredited certification for ISO 9001:2015, the newly-revised international standards for quality management systems.
ISO 9001 is the world’s most widely-recognised standard for quality management systems, and its latest revision was published on September 23, 2015. The standard helps organisations consistently meet the needs of customers and other key stakeholders in both the delivery and continuous improvement of products and services.
Dr R Seetharaman, Group CEO, said: “ISO 9001:2015 rates companies on advanced quality assurance standards (known as the High-Level Structure), facilitating integration of multiple management systems. In addition, it increases focus on risk-based thinking, which makes preventive action for achieving strategic and operational planning and excellence.
“This certification is evidence and an assessment of the quality of management, best practices in the organisation, the company’s focus on quality — improving product performance and customer service, transparency and efficiency of the bank’s internal processes and risk management.” He added: “ISO 9001:2015 places significantly higher requirements on companies than the previous version of the standard. When assessing risks, companies have to pay greater consideration to the external perspective of customers and other stakeholders.
“And through this certification we have made a commitment to continuous improvement of quality and risk management systems, which leads to long-term benefits for customer satisfaction, and enrich our relationship and trust with them.”
