Qatar University College of Health Sciences (QU-CHS) has welcomed its first cohort of masters students with an orientation exercise. They were introduced to their respective programmes and study plan as well as the various services, resources and facilities that will serve to support them throughout their years of study.
The students were new admits to CHS masters programmes – Master of Biomedical Sciences and Master of Public Health. During the event, the new arrivals were provided the opportunity to meet and interact with CHS faculty and their colleagues. They were also given instructions and guidance from CHS current students and alumni to help them towards achieving academic success.
CHS Public Health Department head Dr Lukman Thalib noted that for this academic year, 18 students were admitted to the Public Health master’s programme. He also highlighted CHS mission to graduate highly qualified professionals who are well-equipped with the necessary skills and capabilities that enable them to promote the healthcare sector in Qatar.
CHS associate professor and graduate studies co-ordinator Dr Pejman Hanifi Moghaddam observed that CHS offers highly competitive masters programmes, noting that only eight students were admitted to the Biomedical Sciences master’s programme this year.
He said: “The Biomedical Sciences programme aims to train highly qualified graduates in advanced Clinical Practice or Laboratory Management, which will contribute to the growth of the healthcare sector and thus, the health and welfare of the people of Qatar.”
