Some 20 male and female performers will take the centre stage for more than an hour followed by a 20-minute multicultural performance of Spanish, Indian and Arabic.
This was announced during a joint press conference between Katara general manager Dr Khalid Ibrahim al-Sulaiti and Sri Lankan ambassador WM Karunadasa yesterday.
“We hope this agreement will open a new horizon for further co-operation in the fields of culture and information,” al-Sulaiti said.
He believes this agreement will contribute to deeper bilateral relations between the two countries since it “reflects the culmination of a collective effort and belief envisaging culture as a short path to better understanding.”
“Almost nothing could be greater than arts, music and culture as means used to bolster our ties and make it more fruitful and powerful than ever,”al-Sulaiti stressed.
The Katara official hoped this cultural co-operation will pave the way for creating another milestone which lives up to the special relations between Qatar and Sri Lanka.
The performance will also serve as a window to oversee and discover the rich, diversified and deeply-rooted culture of Sri Lanka, which has old connections to the Arab and Islamic cultures, he noted.
Hailing the level of co-operation between both countries, Karunadasa echoed al-Sulaiti’s statement hoping the upcoming event “will culminate the constructive mutual cultural ties between Qatar and Sri Lanka.”
The army cultural troupe was first founded 25 years ago and has performed in the countries such as Australia, the US, France, Italy, the UK, China, Malaysia, and Thailand.
