Bombing of aid convoy condemned
The State of Qatar has condemned the bombing which targeted a convoy of humanitarian aid near the Syrian city of Aleppo. In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry said “the targeting of humanitarian convoy is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law and blatant encroachment of the ceasefire agreement announced recently in order to deliver humanitarian aid to besieged Syrian cities”. The statement urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in order to put an end to a series of inhuman violations and crimes committed by the regime in Syria, pointing to the repeated endeavours to thwart and breach the agreement. The statement called for the need to find “a comprehensive and lasting political solution” to end the crisis and alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people, according to Geneva-1 statement.
