A regional training workshop on the role of national human rights institutions in the fight against human trafficking will kick off in Amman today.
The workshop is being organised by the Doha-based UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab region, in co-operation with the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions in Doha and the National Centre for Human Rights in Jordan.
Human rights official and acting director of the UN Training Centre in Doha, Mu’ayyad Mehyar, said that the training workshop will provide a forum for discussion and dialogue between national human rights institutions in the Arab region to identify, exchange and promote good practices to protect the rights of victims of human trafficking of both genders and identify protection gaps.
He added that the workshop will promote a common understanding of the participants who represent the national human rights institutions.
