The three-month grace period for illegal residents to leave the country without facing any legal consequences for their overstay begins today.
The amnesty was announced by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) recently.
Yesterday, the MoI specified - on its social media channels - the documents required from applicants for departing the country during the amnesty period.
These are as follows:
l  A valid passport.
l If the passport is not available, a travel document issued from the embassy concerned should be produced.
l An open ticket or a reserved ticket, after three working days from the date of accepting an application.
l ID card or copy of the entry visa.
Applications need to visit the Search and Follow up Department between Sunday and Thursday, from 2pm to 8pm, during the amnesty period, which ends on December 1.
Under the amnesty scheme, foreigners residing in Qatar in violation of the provisions of Law No 4 of 2009 Regulating the Entry, Exit, Residence and Sponsorship of Expatriates can exit the country without any legal consequences.
The MoI has issued a notice on the amnesty announcement in 11 languages as part of its outreach initiative.
