Qatar has strongly condemned the bombing that targeted a recruitment centre in the city of Aden in Yemen, killing and wounding scores of innocent people.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement yesterday that “this criminal act is contrary to all humanitarian values, ethics and principles and religions’’.
The statement reiterated Qatar’s stance rejecting violence and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and called for concerted international efforts to eradicate this dangerous scourge and to eliminate all its causes.
The statement also expressed condolences to the families of the victims who were killed.
Separately, the Arab League also condemned the terrorist attack in Aden.
In a statement issued by the Secretariat General yesterday, the Arab League said “the heinous attack adds to the series of crimes committed by organisations and groups that take religion as a cover for their terrorist actions’’.
The Arab League stressed the importance of concerted international community’s efforts to stand firmly and decisively against attempts targeting the security, stability and unity of Yemen.
It also underlined the need to take the necessary measures to confront the escalating threat of terrorism, whether in the Arab region or at the international level in general.
The suicide bombing took place in the crowded Mansoura neighbourhood in Aden on Monday morning, killing at least over 70 young military recruits who were preparing to join government forces and wounding scores.
Mansoura has been the site of multiple attacks by militants in the past year.
