Petrol prices in Qatar will come down by Dh5 a litre next month while there will be no change in the diesel price in September, the Ministry of Energy & Industry has announced.

According to the ministry, the 91-octane Premium gasoline will cost QR1.30/litre and the 95-octane Super QR1.40 from September 1. Diesel will remain unchanged at QR1.40/litre next month.

The current prices of petrol, valid until August 31, are QR1.35 for Premium and QR1.45 for Super.

Fuel prices in Qatar were allowed to fluctuate in response to changes in the global market from May 1.

Every month, a special committee comprising representatives from various government bodies would review fuel prices (gasoline and diesel) and make recommendations on proposed prices for the local market accordingly.

The price of Premium gasoline was increased from QR1.20 in June to QR1.30 in July, and further to QR1.35 in August. On the other hand, the price of Super was raised from QR1.30 in June to QR1.40 in July, and then to QR1.45 in August.

The latest announcement (for September) means petrol prices will return to the July levels.

The price of diesel, meanwhile, has remained the same over this period.
