Ooredoo has congratulated the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the 38 athletes in Team Qatar for their achievements at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.
As part of the company’s commitment to encouraging people to live more healthy and active lifestyles, Ooredoo is a National Sponsor of the Qatar Olympic Committee and helped support a host of initiatives during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games including the charity ‘Legendary Match.’
The ‘Legendary Match’ involved noted football players taking part in a special match at  Bayt Qatar, which was organised by QOC and supported by Ooredoo to raise awareness about ‘Save the Dream’, the official charity of Doha-based International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS).
Ooredoo was one of the most active partners of QOC during the games, promoting Qatar’s presence with social media posts that were read by close to 800,000 people.
Moving forward, Ooredoo’s collaboration with the Qatar Olympic Committee will include support for all Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) events, FINA/Airweave Swimming World Cup events, and support for the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series, which will next be held in 2017.
Waleed al-Sayed, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “All of Qatar was proud to follow the performance of our national team at the Olympics and we look forward to future sporting success. We are proud to work with the Qatar Olympic Committee on their important initiatives, and Ooredoo will continue to be an enthusiastic supporter of sport in Qatar.”
