Strong winds and low visibility are expected during rain in the central parts of Qatar on Wednesday, the Met department has said.
Similar conditions were experienced on Tuesday, too, particularly in Jumailiyah, according to the weather office.
A series of posts on the Met department’s Twitter page showed that the area continued to be affected by a thunder cell on Tuesday, resulting in rain, strong winds and low visibility due to dust. A video showing the rain was also posted online.
Jumailiyah had received rain on Monday as well, and windy conditions there led to the accumulation of debris on roads in the area. Municipal workers later cleared the area of the debris.
The Met department urged people to remain cautious in view of the conditions.
The detailed forecast for inshore areas on Wednesday is hazy to misty conditions in some places at first. This is to be followed by a hot day with local cloud formation and there is a weak chance of scattered rain in the central areas by the afternoon.
Hazy to misty conditions are also likely at times in offshore areas along with some clouds.
Visibility, meanwhile, is likely to drop to 3km or less in some places at first and during rain in the central areas.
On Tuesday, a maximum temperature of 46C was recorded in Abu Samra and Batna, followed by 45C in Jumailiyah and Karanah. In the capital, the mercury level reached a high of 42C in the Qatar University and Doha airport areas.
The maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to be 43C in Abu Samra and 42C in Doha.
