The director of Umm Salal Municipality, Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed al-Thani, has issued an administrative decision to close a restaurant in the Al Kharaitiyat area for 10 days for preparing food in unhygienic conditions.
In July, the health affairs section of the municipality conducted 70 inspections at food establishments within its jurisdiction and found some 220kg of foodstuff of different types unfit for human consumption. The beauty centres section at the municipality also conducted four inspection campaigns, which included 55 inspections, while the technical inspection section conducted 67 inspections and issued nine violation reports regarding building permits. 
During the same period, the general inspection section put up 85 notices for removal of abandoned vehicles. It also prepared three reconciliation reports and got five pledges to remove such vehicles. In addition, it responded to 17 complaints.
Meanwhile, the health inspection section at Al Rayyan Municipality conducted 418 inspections at food facilities within its jurisdiction. Accordingly, 46 violation reports were issued and 53 sheep carcasses were destroyed for being unfit for human consumption. 
Fines amounting to QR98,600 were also collected during this period. Besides, environmental violations were also reported from some areas.
