On the occasion of the country’s 70th Independence Day yesterday Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain conferred ‘Pakistan Civil Awards’ on citizens as well as foreign nationals for showing excellence and courage in their respective fields.
The investiture ceremony of these awards will take place on Pakistan Day on March 23, 
2017.
Following are the names of recipients:
For the award Hilal-i-Shujaat – Tahir Rai (Punjab) for gallantry.
For the award Hilal-i- Imtiaz – Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf (Punjab) in the science category for biology, Wasim Ahmad (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for biochemistry and Tariq Ahmad (Punjab) for engineering.
For the award Sitara-i-Pakistan for services to Pakistan – late Leif Holger Larsen (Norway), late Domingo D Lucenario Jr.(Philippines), late Burhan Mohamed (Indonesia), late Hery Setyawati Burhan (Indonesia) and late Datin Habibah Mahmud (Malaysia).
For the award Sitara-i-Shujaat for gallantry – Khalid Farid (Punjab).
For the award Sitara-i-Imtiaz for sciences – Dr Rehman Hoorani (Sindh) for physics, Dr Muhammad Iqbal (Punjab) for biotechnology, Dr Aslam Noor (Punjab) for mathematics,
