HSBC has appointed Georges Elhedery as chief executive officer for Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region and will join the board of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited (HBME) as deputy chairman.
Elhedery joined HSBC in 2005 where he was global head of Structured Rates, then global deputy head of Rates in Global Markets. He subsequently moved to Dubai in 2010, initially as head of Global Markets, Mena, then as head of Markets and Capital Financing, Mena, before taking on his current role as head of Global Banking and Markets, Mena, in June 2014. 
Previously, Elhedery worked for Goldman Sachs in London and Banque Paribas in Tokyo.
