The Nepal Magar Society-Qatar (NMS) celebrated their Bhume Naach festival for the very first time in Qatar. The programme was organised at a venue in Asian Town. The festival celebrates the land for bounties that come from it, and is observed largely in the ethnic Magar clusters in the western hills of Nepal.  The term Bhume means ‘earth’ and Naach means ‘dance’ in the Nepali language. The participants in the NMS event wore traditional Magar dresses. The programme was chaired by NMS chairperson Mahendra Thapa Magar. Shiyaram Chaudhary, chairman of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities-Qatar, was the chief guest.
The programme was hosted by NMS general secretary Bijaya Magar and started with the national anthem of Nepal. The participants then observed a minute-long silence for the dead.
Mahendra Magar performed a folk Bhume dance. Mohan Thapa Magar, Tek Rasaili, Maile Tamang and Roshika Tamang performed the Salaiju dance. Singers Bijaya Nepali and Bal Bikram Thapa rendered folk romantic songs.
Sarita Gurung Shrestha and Bal Bikram Thapa performed a dohari — a folk duet song. Rabindra Sunuwar rendered a song about the plight of Nepalese migrant workers. A large number of people attended the event.
