The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has conducted a slew of intensive inspection campaigns covering more than 1,300 local retailers and service providers.
The campaigns are conducted ahead of and during the holy month of Ramadan with the aim of implementing provisions of Law No 8 for 2008 on consumer protection.
MEC inspectors have been monitoring the local market through both sudden and regular inspection visits to retail outlets and service providers around the country to ensure compliance with the regulations, according to a statement.
The visits cover retail stores such as groceries, supermarkets, shopping malls, fruits and vegetables shops, nuts and sweets shops, meat and fish shops, clothes shops, automobile workshops and spare parts stores and cafeterias.
The MEC has urged consumers to report violations by retailers through its various communication channels and also submit their suggestions in this regard.
