Qatar Career Fair (QCF), an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has recognised more than 25 participants from its ‘Career Adviser Training Course’, the first programme of its kind in Qatar and the Gulf region.
Certified by Kuder Inc, a world leader in career planning services, the five-day bilingual course brought together career advisers, academic and vocational counsellors, human resources personnel, professors, instructors,
scholars and parents. 
Abdulla al-Mansoori, director, QCF, said: “We are celebrating the recognition of the second batch of members of the Career Adviser Training Course, held for the first time in 2015. We are confident the participants have gained valuable career planning knowledge that will help them carry out their duties in a 
professional manner.”
“The programme aligns with our mission to empower Qatari youth as they embark on their professional journey through effective career guidance and planning services. It also contributes to our efforts to raise awareness in the field of career planning and professional guidance to the benefit of the labour market in the region,” al-Mansoori added.
The course focused on nine vital competencies: helping skills, career development and choice theory, assessment and career planning, the role of information technology in career planning, ethical guidelines, teamwork, the use of technology; employment research skills, and programme planning and implementation.
Graduates will continue to have access to an online knowledge portal that remains open for six months following the course. 
One of the participants, Faisal al-Nuaimi, head of career counselling at Qatar Petroleum, said: “I participated in the Career Adviser Training Course to learn how to implement international best practices in career development in my professional life. It has provided me with a lot of scientific and technical information, such as assessments and theories in the field of career planning and guidance.”
Course instructors included Dr Spencer Niles, director of the Centre for the Study of Career Development and Public Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, and Dr Mohamed Abul Ola, general manager of Integral Training and Development Company.
