Strong winds are expected across the country during the day along with poor visibility due to blowing dust, the Qatar Met department has said in its forecast for today.
Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds and high seas.
Northwesterly winds will blow at speeds ranging from 15-25 knots in inshore areas, going up to 35 knots in some places at times before decreasing to 8-15 knots by night. In offshore areas, the wind speed will range from 17-23 knots and may reach 28 knots today, according to the weather report.
The forecast for inshore areas today also says it will be hot during the day and dusty conditions are expected at times. Slightly dusty conditions are also likely in offshore areas, with the sea level rising to 9ft.
Visibility may drop to 2km or less in some areas at times.
Meanwhile, data available on the Met department’s social media platforms showed that the mercury level had dropped yesterday as compared to the previous few days, when it had soared to the mid-40C mark.
Yesterday, a maximum temperature of 41C was recorded at Abu Hamour, Messaied and Turayna, followed by 40C at Doha airport, Qatar University, Sheehaniya and Batna, and 39C at Al Khor and Karana.
Today, the maximum temperature is expected to be 40C in Mesaieed and Wakrah, 39C in Doha, 38C in Al Khor, 33C in Dukhan and Abu Samra and 32C in Al Ruwais.
