The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced yesterday the opening of  eight new mosques in different parts of Doha in the near future.
The new mosques can accommodate more than 6,000 men and women.
The Ministry said in a statement that the new mosques are located in Leabaib, Al Hetmi Old, Al Nasr, Msheireb, Al Sakhama, New Al Ghanim and Umm Ghuwailina.
All the new mosques include separate place for women worshippers and houses for imams.
The Mosques Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs said it takes into account the requirements of sustainable buildings, rationalising the use of electricity and water, and the preservation of heritage aesthetics in the mosques’ designs, reflecting the authenticity of the Qatari and Islamic heritage according to the highest standards.

16 employees of firm accused of
causing loss due to negligence
A Doha Court of Misdemeanour is hearing a case in which 16 employees of a local company are accused of causing a loss of around QR3mn to the firm through negligence.
According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, the new managing director of the company had detected some irregularities in the firm’s transactions. Accordingly, he reported the matter to the Public Prosecution based on an audit report.
It turned out that the 16 defendants, including the general manager, head of accounts and director of sales, did not carry out their duties properly and were negligent. They used to sell the company’s products to local retailers for delayed payment and without getting enough guarantees for repayment.
Besides, the manager of the company failed to adopt necessary marketing strategies to enhance the firm’s position in the local market, the daily said.


PM greets new prime minister of Turkey
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday congratulated in a telephone call Binali Yildirim on his assumption to the post of prime minister of Turkey, wishing him success and the relations between Qatar and Turkey more development and growth.
The phone conversation also dealt with bilateral co-operation and issues of common concern.

Al-Kuwari arrives in Brussels for Unesco campaign
Qatar’s candidate to the post of the director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) and Adviser at the Emiri Diwan, HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, arrived in the Belgian capital, Brussels, yesterday to deliver a speech in the European Union headquarters to introduce his election programe and explain his vision for the future of the UN organisation.
Dr al-Kuwari is scheduled to deliver his speech during a meeting organised in co-ordination between the Qatari-European Friendship Association at the European Parliament and Qatar’s Mission to the European Union tomorrow  evening in the presence of a group of  high-level Belgian personalities,
European commissioners and Nato officials along with a large number of European parliamentarians, ambassadors of Arab and foreign missions accredited to Brussels and permanent representatives to the European Union.
The speech will be preceded by extensive meetings with education and culture commissioners aimed at introducing the Qatari candidate’s programme.

Advisory Council team off to Cairo
A delegation from the Advisory Council left Doha for Egypt yesterday to participate in the fifth meeting of the fourth session of the Arab Parliament’s first legislative term, which began  on May 28 and will last until June 1.  The third Arab Parliamentarians Conference related to children’s issues in the Arab region will be held during the meetings tomorrow in Cairo.

Islamic lectures in Urdu
A visiting Pakistani Islamic scholar will deliver lectures in Urdu today and tomorrow.
Professor Mohamed Yasin Zafar,(pictured) Director of Education at Jama’ Salfiya in Faisalabad, will speak on ‘The role of religious institutions in the Subcontinent’ tonight at Maktab Dawah Al-Irshad Saudi in Bin Omran after Isha prayer.
Tomorrow’s lecture will be held at Jama’ Masjid Sakan Bin Laden in Khartiyat after Isha prayer where Professor Yasin Zafar will deliver a talk on the topic ‘A virtuous life’. For details contact 66571983.
