China wants to expand its ‘strategic’ relations with Bangladesh, Chinese Defence Minister General Chang Wanquan said this during a meeting with Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid in Dhaka yesterday.
The Chinese minister said Bangladesh is a good friend of his country, and Chinese assistance in equipment training and maintenance in the military sector will continue in future, Joynal Abedin, the president’s press secretary told reporters after the meeting.
Besides, the military training programme between the two countries continues to help increase professional efficiency on both sides, General Wanquan added that the exchange of visits between high officials of the two countries would be increased.
President Hamid termed China “one of the most important development partners of Bangladesh.”
“Chinese co-operation in different sectors is playing an important role in the socio-economic development of Bangladesh,” the president observed.
He hoped that through the visit the existing relations between the two countries in the military sector would be strengthened.
