The Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs H E Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi opened the new government services complex in the presence of representatives of the complex’s service providers .
The Minister also toured the departments operating out of the complex and saw the services provided at the centre by six ministries and a corporation — the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce; the Ministry of Justice; the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs; the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, in addition to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the upgrade of the complex by increasing the area was done under the directives of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani for providing more comfort, facilitating procedures and upgrading the services provided by ministries to citizens and residents.
The complex comprises nearly 30 counters, some of them dedicated to serving women, the elderly and people with disabilities. The centre works in two shifts from 7.30am to 1pm and 3pm to 7pm.
The Government is working to open such centres in all regions to bring the official services nearer to residents to help them save time and reduce congestion, a spokesman said.
There are eight government service complexes across the country now, carrying out between 4,500 and 5,000 procedures daily.
The Mesaimeer centre is second of its kind as the first government services complex was opened in November 2015 in Rayyan.
