Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has announced the launch of its annual Ramadan campaign for the year 1437 AH, featuiring QR96mn worth of projects during and beyond Ramadan in Qatar and 15 other countries.
The announcement was made at a press conference attended by QRCS secretary-general Saleh bin Ali al-Mohannadi, head of resource mobilisation Ahmed Ali al-Khulaifi, social and public media representatives, as well as QRCS officials and volunteers.
Al-Mohannadi conveyed his best wishes to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Qatari people and the whole Muslim Nation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
"Like every year, QRCS is launching a Ramadan campaign, which involves Ramadan projects at a cost of QR11mn and year-round projects valued at QR85mn. These cover shelter, healthcare, food and non-food aid, water and sanitation, education, family support and health and social awareness," he said.
The target projects are as follows: local Ramadan projects, including Ramadan Iftar, Eid clothing, This is My Wish, Recite and Ascend, etc (QR3,117,000); international Ramadan Iftar and food package distributions for 126,130 families in Syria, Lebanon (Syrian and Palestinian refugees), Palestine, Jerusalem, Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, Niger, Chad, Central African Republic and Ethiopia (QR7,839,000); local health, social, rehabilitation and development projects (QR33mn) and international year-round projects and programmes in 15 countries (QR51,500,000).
Those attending the press meet were then given an overview by al-Khulaifi about the various means of marketing for the campaign as well as how to make donations.

On the sidelines of the press conference, al-Mohannadi honoured a number of social and public media figures for their support of QRCS's humanitarian efforts and mission.
