The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics has released the 27th edition of Qatar Monthly Statistics highlighting statistics the country recorded in March 2016. The ministry said in a statement the demographic statistics shows that Qatar’s population has reached 2.527mn in March 2016, an increase of 7.7% compared to March 2015. General index (CPI) of March 2016 showed an increase of 3.3%. This price surge is primarily due to the increasing prices seen in eight groups: Recreation and Culture by 11.2%, Education by 7.1%, Housing, Water, Electricity and Gas by 5.4%, Furniture and Household Equipment and Transport by 1.5% each, Miscellaneous Goods and Services by 1.4%, Restaurants and Hotels by 1.1%, and Communication by 0.2%. The bulletin also highlights the number of vehicles registered in March 2016 at 9,419.
Total broad money supply (M2) was about QR506bn during March showing a monthly increase of 0.23% compared to February 2016.

FM gets message from Ecuador counterpart
HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani received a verbal message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador Guillaume Long dealing with bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them. HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad al-Meraikhi received the message during a meeting with the ambassador of Ecuador to Qatar Kaplan Abi Saab yesterday.

Qatar-Venezuela ties reviewed
HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs  Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has sent a message  to  the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Dr Delsey Rodriguez, dealing with bilateral relations. The message was delivered by Qatar’s ambassador to Venezuela Battal bin Meajeb al-Dosari, during a meeting with the Venezuelan foreign  minister in Caracas yesterday.

Ooredoo confirms disruption of beIN  service
Ooredoo yesterday confirmed that its entertainment services, Ooredoo tv and Mozaic TV, were temporarily unable to broadcast beIN Sports channels.
In a statement, Ooredoo said it had been attempting to renew its contract with beIN Sports since October 2015 but discussions were still under way.
All beIN subscribers using Ooredoo tv and Mozaic TV will not be charged for their subscription until an agreement has been met.
The company has apologised for the disruption of the service and has said it is “working hard to resume broadcasting beIN content as soon as possible”.
