“The book represents the latest of our documentary publications, which Katara was keen to print, publish and distribute,” Katara’s Research and Studies department director Dr Nadia Al Madahka said.
The book was compiled by a team of researchers at the Studies and Research Committee, including al-Madahka and Abdul Aziz Rifaat, a research expert at Katara.
Besides “Qatar in the Arab Press 1909-1998,” Rifaat also outlined articles, reports, investigations, columns, photo-journalistic coverages, and clippings that have been published in the Arabic newspapers, magazines and periodicals.
He said the preparation of the book included a combined efforts and co-operation from various authorities and organisations, and announced that other publications will follow.
“Qatar in the Arab Press 1909-1998” is a publication that will continue to receive attention and appreciation of by this generation and the generations to come, as it reflects the importance of the cultural historic value,” Rifaat noted.
Katara is keen to publish books that contribute to achieving its objectives and promoting national identity in the Qatari society by connecting generations with their past and reinforcing loyalty and belonging to their country.
