Thousands of visitors experienced Qatar Airways’ hospitality at its two-storey stand at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2016 while exploring the potential to travel the world through the airline’s network of more than 150 destinations, the Doha-based carrier said in a statement yesterday.
The airline brought its participation in ATM 2016 to an end on April 28, marking another successful year at the market-leading international travel and tourism event, the statement noted.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker said, “Arabian Travel Market is one of the most anticipated events in the calendar for the opportunities it brings, and 2016 has proved to be no exception. Qatar Airways is proud to be among the world’s trendsetters – indeed, we are proud to be the ‘World’s Best Airline’, a title that we have achieved through our commitment to continuously going one step above to satisfy our customers and prompt the evolution of the aviation industry.”
On Day 1 of ATM, al-Baker held a press conference to announce the launch of a new lounge in Dubai International Airport, reflecting the airline’s “commitment to the local market and valued UAE
customers”.
During ATM, Qatar Airways welcomed industry leaders and dignitaries to its stand. Al-Baker also took centre stage in a capacity-crowd session hosted by celebrity chair John Strickland to offer insight and updates on some of the industry’s hottest topics,
including innovation and security.
Further, the Qatar Airways Group chief executive spoke about the roster of new destinations the airline would launch in 2016. These include Adelaide (Australia), Atlanta (US), Auckland (New Zealand) – the “world’s longest flight”, Douala (Cameroon), Helsinki (Finland), Krabi (Thailand), Libreville (Gabon), Lusaka (Zambia), Marrakech (Morocco), Nice (France), Pisa (Italy), Sarajevo (Bosnia), Windhoek (Namibia), Yerevan (Armenia) and Seychelles.
Earlier this year, Qatar Airways began flying to Los Angeles (US), Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), Sydney (Australia), Birmingham (UK) and Boston (US).
Coinciding with the official launch of Dubai International Airport’s new Concourse D, al-Baker hosted Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Airports, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, around the newly-opened Qatar Airways Premium Lounge.
Located on Concourse D, the lounge is available to Qatar Airways first and business class passengers and Privilege Club Platinum and Gold members.
