Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has signed two agreements with the Relief and Humanitarian Aid Organisation of Dar Al-Fatwa in Lebanon to conduct humanitarian, relief, and medical projects for the Syrian refugees in Lebanon during 2016.
The signing ceremony, held at the Dar Al-Fatwa’s headquarters in Beirut, was attended by Lebanon’s mufti, Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian, the chairman of the Relief and Humanitarian Aid Organisation, Hajj Riad Itani, the head of QRCS mission in Lebanon, Omar Katerji, and his assistants.
In his remarks, Sheikh Derian said that framework agreements signed between QRCS and Dar Al-Fatwa’s Relief and Humanitarian Aid Organisation “will harness co-operation to help the Syrian refugees with relief, development, and healthcare projects. We congratulate the two organisations for this noble work”.
“Relief of refugees is an indispensable duty that is religiously exhorted. We thank QRCS and the Relief and Humanitarian Aid Organisation for their previous benevolent activities, and we bless this joint effort. QRCS has always been there not only for the Syrian refugees but also for the Lebanese across the board,” he added.
“We would like to thank the State of Qatar for its great and evident contributions in Lebanon,” the mufti said.
Hajj Itani stated, “I hail Qatar’s people and government for the massive aid they provide for the needy. We have already co-operated with QRCS, but today’s agreements are a step farther”.
The projects to be implemented under the agreements, Hajj Itani clarified, are the support of the advanced health centre in Wadi Khalid and the setting up of a catering unit to provide food packages for free during the holy month of Ramadan.
Katerji said the agreement involves providing the Syrian refugees in Lebanon with hot water using solar heaters.
