HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has ordered the provision of aid worth $10mn to the Iraqi people in view of the difficult circumstances experienced by them and the blockade from which many Iraqi cities are suffering.  
In a statement issued yesterday, the Foreign Ministry stressed that the humanitarian assistance reflects  Qatar’s firm resolve to stand with the Iraqi people and alleviate their suffering.
The statement added that the agreement was signed yesterday between Qatar Development Fund (QDF) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) to carry out emergency relief for the benefit of the people of the besieged city of Fallujah in Iraq at a cost of  $1mn, in co-ordination with international organisations and UN agencies.
The Qatari assistance to the Iraqi people includes a number of sectors such as food security and healthcares. QRCS has drawn up an urgent intervention plan to execute several relief projects covering various areas of Anbar province.
