LuLu Hypermarket, Barwa City, has achieved the ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management Systems Certification and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Standards.
LuLu Hypermarket, Al Khor branch, was certified last year. With the latest achievement, LuLu Hypermarket Trading Company has become the first hypermarket chain in Qatar to get the prestigious international certification.
The certificates were handed over to LuLu Group International director Mohamed Althaf by Quality Austria Gulf general manager Sunil Zachariah.
LuLu Hypermarket Group’s regional director Shaijan M O, regional manager Shanavas P M, retail operations manager Keith Smith, Quality Austria Gulf technical manager Prabath D’silva, and administration and customer service manager Aion Gregor Tubanza were present.
“Gaining ISO 22000 and HACCP Certification demonstrates our commitment to production and distribution of safe food products,” Althaf said.
“On the one hand, certification to ISO 22000 standard provides a high level of confidence among individual and institutional customers of LuLu Hypermarket and, on the other hand it is also an effective system to ensure compliance to municipality regulations and achieve continual improvement in food safety,” Zachariah said.
“Only a few companies have strong internal processes and are customer-orientated enough to successfully pass such a strict audit according to the requirements of the international standard ISO 22000,” he added.
