A case of a female gynaecologist accused of causing the death of an unborn baby due to a serious medical error is being reviewed by a Doha criminal court.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Wednesday that the victim, a pregnant woman in labour, arrived at the hospital and told the gynaecologist that she had previously given birth through a caesarian section and hence it was impossible for her to give birth in the normal way.
But the doctor told her to wait for a normal delivery, despite the woman repeating her request for a caesarian, as her condition worsened. Subsequently, the unborn child died before birth.
The doctor is facing charges of serious negligence that caused the death of the unborn baby.
