Qatar’s Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani arrived in the Djibouti’s capital, Djibouti, on an official visit, yesterday.
The minister and his accompanying delegation were greeted upon arrival at Djibouti international airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Defence Minister Hassan Dharar Hufane and Qatar’s ambassador Jassim bin Jaber Jassim Sorour.
The minister voiced pleasure over the releasing of a group of Djibouti prisoners “thanks to the response of the brethren in Eritrea with the Qatari efforts made by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani”.
The minister expressed the hope that this would be “a step in the process of settling the remaining differences between Djibouti and Eritrea”.
This comes within the framework of the Qatari mediation to resolve the dispute between Djibouti and Eritrea, where an agreement was signed under the auspices of Qatar in Doha in 2010.
