Mazrouah Yard for selling Qatari farm produce will conclude the Kenar Festival today. The festival is organised by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) to popularise the fruit of the Sidra tree.
Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser al-Thani, assistant undersecretary for agriculture and fisheries affairs, told local Arabic daily Arrayah that there is no plan to reduce the subsidies given to Qatari farms, affirming that the MME is set to go ahead with plans to
develop the agriculture sector.
Yousef al-Khelaifi, director, agriculture affairs department, said that the festival is the fourth such event organised by MME after the festivals of honey, flowers, and organic products. “The other festivals to follow will include strawberry, and
hydroponics.”
A total of 10 local farms are taking part in the Kenar Festival with different varieties of Sidra fruit.
